Morningside United Church (our next door neighbours and also the church that Eric Liddell attended when he lived in Edinburgh) has recently donated £1,000 to our capital appeal. The current edition of their magazine "The Link" includes an article about volunteering at the Centre.

Day Care for People With Dementia in Edinburgh

The Eric Liddell Centre operates a day care service for people with a diagnosis of dementia in South Edinburgh. A team of full time staff with a variety of backgrounds and experience and highly skilled volunteers provide person centred day care services to people with dementia. The aim of the service is to support people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible

New Fundraising Appeal

We are excited to announce that we have launched a capital appeal to raise funds for alterations to our building aimed at:

• Improving access to our building.
• Increasing our capacity to help people with disabilities.

The total cost of the project is £248,000 and we intend to raise this money from charitable trusts, our members and the local community in Meadows, Morningside and Marchmont.

Fundraising Event on 6th November

On Saturday 6th November we are hosting an evening of Indian Classical music to raise money for the Eric Liddell Ca(i)re Programme which helps carers from across Edinburgh. Tickets are on sale at reception at £12.50 for adults and £6 for children. This includes a home cooked Indian (vegetarian) meal. For further information or to order tickets online please click here.

Christmas appeal to churches.

Although its still September we are sending out our Christmas appeal to churches this week. Many churches have infrequent business meetings so we need to send early. Here is a copy. Feel free to circulate this to anyone you know who might be interested. If you would like a proper printed copy on a letterhead please get in touch.

Notice is hereby given that a General Meeting (“the Meeting”) of Eric Liddell Centre Ltd. (“the Company”) will be held at the South West Wing, Eric Liddell Centre, 15 Morningside Road, Edinburgh on Saturday 25^th September 2010 at 10.30am to transact the following business:

1.      Welcome and opening prayer

2.      Apologies for absence

3.      Introduction by the Chairman

4.      Special Resolution

"THAT:

the regulations contained in the document attached to this resolution, be and are hereby adopted as the new articles of association of the Company in substitution for and to the exclusion of the existing articles of association of the Company."

5.      Vote by members or their Proxies on the Special Resolution

6.      Meeting informed of the result of the vote by the Chairman.

Steven Metcalf, whose was in the internment camp with Eric Liddell as a boy has written a book called "In Japan the Crickets Cry".
